Gather your family, rent a polaroid camera from the front desk and set out to explore our 40-acres to search for natural items across our campus. From bird watching to rock balancing and more, our scavenger hunts encourage guests to absorb the beauty that surrounds us including the Roaring Fork River and dreamy sunsets over the mountains.

Take a family-friendly hike on the Ute Trail, offering panoramic views of Aspen. It's a relatively short hike suitable for children, providing a great outdoor experience.

Wildlife Scavenger Hunt

Our wildlife scavenger hunt is perfect for younger adventurers identifying shapes, colors and touch points. Gather your family, rent a polaroid camera from the front desk and set out to explore our 40-acres to search for natural items across our campus. Little explorers who finish the hunt will be rewarded with a sweet prize from our front desk team.

Art Scavenger Hunt

Explore the deep connection between art and nature across our campus. Did you know between 1953 and 1973, artist, sculptor and architect, Herbert Bayer, wove outdoor walkways through his landscape architecture, known as “earthworks”? With our grounds rich in architecture and outdoor sculptures, your family can use clues to find special works of art. Rent out a polaroid camera from the front desk to document each finding. Once completed, visit the front desk to collect a special prize.

Paddleboarding is a popular water activity on the Roaring Fork River. You can find rental shops in Aspen that offer paddleboards and other water sports equipment. The river provides a scenic backdrop for paddleboarding, especially during the warmer months.

The Roaring Fork River is known for its excellent fishing opportunities. It's home to various fish species, including trout. Anglers can try fly fishing or conventional fishing methods. You may need to check and adhere to fishing regulations, including catch-and-release practices, to preserve the health of the river's ecosystem.
